Hanging Flowers: Photo by Sharon Burtner

Staccato

All my life I've heard of love
And all about its search.
Here it is in purest form
Through acceptance of its warmth.

My spirit freed, all hope fulfilled,
Just because I know you.
You smiled once and took my hand;
My old world then was through.

My teasing manner and flirting ways
Suddenly seemed foolish.
Instead my thoughts were occupied
By a single wish.

Imagery so fabulous
Swam so quickly through my mind
That in its sea of endless dreams
No words could I find.

Speech would only interrupt
This soft, full flow of happiness.
To keep the moment endlessly
We wrapped it with a kiss.
